1
Gather equipment to build with. If you want a top-notch field and you have money to spare you can buy the wood and sandbags and such that you need. BUT, the better thing to do would probably be to find scrap wood and barrels, and anything you find on the side of the road. You might want to bring friends to help build it.
-
2
Find a good place to play near your home or neighborhood. A large backyard, abandoned shack or you could buy a wide lot near your house, this is ideal for a large-scale assault. If you own property (or have permission to use it) with woods this would be good too, as most cover will already be there and you won't have to do as much work. Remember It could be illegal in your area on public land.
-
3
Dig trenches and fox holes for cover.
-
4
Stack up and put out any stacked up tires, old barrels, tables, palettes, sandbags or other solid objects for cover.
-
5
Mark any objectives clearly with smoke, a painted emblem, a sticker, or anything Be Creative! if applicable.
-
6
Make bunkers out of old sheds or build new ones out of wood
-
7
Put trees or small bushes to hide behind.
-
8
Be aware there are no animals occupying the place. You do not want to kill someone's pet.
-
9
Make different landmarks that everyone can identify. So, put a lot of plywood in one area, and you can call it 'the fort'. Have a lot of open area, then call it 'the field'. Make the field distinguishable, so you can communicate effectively.
-
10
Make sure if its in your backyard, no one shoots one of your windows.

Most land works, it really depends on how you want your field to be. For example, if you want a "king of the hill" map, you may want to have land that is uneven and hilly.

Question
Do I have to be a certain age to make my own Airsoft field? How old do I need to be to play Airsoft safely?
I would say you have to be around 16 for competitive Airsoft, the guns hurt like HECK sometimes. But if you're playing just for fun, ages 12+ is good.
-
Question
So they have to bring their own Airsoft gun?
Unless you have a large arsenal of Airsoft guns you can hand out to participants, yes, they should bring their own guns.
-
Question

Yes, you can use any airsoft field for Nerf as well. Since Nerf cannot damage anything, you don't have to worry as much about safety.
